Long Time No Post/ Na Na Na Analysis

It's been a long time since I posted, cuz I was rather lazy and ran into a terrible case of writer's block. And cuz I was revamping my iPod... again >.< also, was watching too much eddie izzard. Guy's damned funny. I will link a video of his standup routine Dress to Kill sometime, 12 parts all in all. Parts 4,5,6 and 7 are particularly funny.

So, um, exams? Did fairly well. Except for chinese. I got 3.6 for everything but my 2.8 (or is that 2.4?! O.o) in chinese dragged my overall GPA down to a lousy 3.27. Meh.

Holiday plans? Well, philosophy course next year has already been released, so gonna go to kino (maybe with JC, San, Kii, Gab and Lil?) and buy books on Kant, Miller and ethics in general. And then im also gonna go buy something about the French Revolution or the Rise and Fall of Communist Russia. Gah. I wanna learn French and Russian history XD of course, during the holiday, i need to... er.... *cough* lose... weight... *coughcoughcough/spaz* Yea. Running, jumping, climbing trees and all that.

And since I haven't written in my blog for so long, I might as well give my dwindling audience a treat XD ima analyse the MCR (my chem romance) song, Na Na Na. Interesting song. Decided to analyze it cuz i have a tendency to overanalyze things and keep trying to find some deeper meaning or purpose in every trivial matter. And because im trying to write a poem but keep running into the dread writer's block. Gah, I hate writers block.

The future is bulletproof
The aftermath secondary
It's time to do it now and do it loud
Killjoys make some noise

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA NANANANANANA
NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA NANANANANANA
NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA NA

Drugs, gimme drugs, gimme drugs
I don't need it, but I'll sell what you got
Take the cash and I'll keep it
Eight legs to the wall
Hit the gas, kill 'em all
And we crawl!
And we crawl!
And we crawl!
You'll be my detonator

Love, gimme love, gimme love
I don't need it, but I'll take what I want
From your heart and I'll keep it
In a bag, in a box
Put an X on the floor
Gimme more!
Gimme more!
Gimme more!
Shut up and sing it with me

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
From Mall Security (NA-NA-NANANA)
To every enemy (NA-NA-NANANA)
We're on their property (NA-NA-NANANA)
Standing in a V formation

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
Let's blow an artery (NA-NA-NANANA)
Eat plastic surgery (NA-NA-NANANA)
Keep your apology (NA-NA-NANANA)
Give us more detonation

More!
Gimme more!
Gimme more!

Let me tell you 'bout the sad man
Shut up and let me see your jazz hands
Remember when you were a madman
Thought you was Batman
And hit the party with a gas can
Kiss me you animal!

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
You run the company (NA-NA-NANANA)
Fuck like a Kennedy (NA-NA-NANANA)
I think we'd rather be (NA-NA-NANANA)
Burning your information

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
Let's blow an artery (NA-NA-NANANA)
Eat plastic surgery (NA-NA-NANANA)
Keep your apology (NA-NA-NANANA)
Give us more detonation

Right here, right now
All the way in battery city
The little children raised their open filthy palms
Like tiny daggers up to heaven
And all the Juvee Halls, and the ritalin rats
Ask angels made from neon and fucking garbage
Scream out! What will save us?
And the sky opened up

Everybody wants to change the world
Everybody wants to change the world
But no one, no one wants to die
Wanna try, wanna try, wanna try,
Wanna try, wanna try now!

I'll be your detonator!

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA NA

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
Make no apologies (NA-NA-NANANA)
It's death or victory (NA-NA-NANANA)
On my authority (NA-NA-NANANA)
Crash and burn, young and loaded

NA NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA
Drop like a bullet shell (NA-NA-NANANA)
Dress like a sleeper cell(NA-NA-NANANA)
I'd rather go to hell (NA-NA-NANANA)
Then be in a purgatory
Cut my hair, gag and bore me
Pull this pin, let this world explode

The song is an assault on the carefree and ignorant attitudes people have towards the world and its consequences. The theme is highlighted throughout the entire song from the repetition of "na na na", which is the response a child makes when he does not want to hear something or does not care about the topic being discussed. It downgrades society to that of a naive infant and claims that it is too immature to understand the gravity of the situation.

The song introduction also mentions that "the future is bulletproof, the aftermath is secondary". This implies that the people of the world believe that no matter what they do, nothing wrong can go wrong, because after all, the future is bulletproof and invincible and that even if something goes wrong, it is okay because the aftermath or the consequences do not matter as much as the main thing you originally wanted to get. It assaults the greedy, capitalist consumer culture that has spread across the globe.

"Drugs, gimme drugs, gimme drugs, I don't need it but I'll sell what you got, take the cash and I'll keep it"

The first half of the quote highlights the urgency in which the community wants to buy goods, constantly demanding for them. It then later explains that these are unnecessary and are merely for the purpose of earning money. The quote underlines the fact that the people are ignorant of the consequences of their actions, drugs being generally deemed as bad for your health, yet even though they know it, they do not care and want more even if they do not need it. The urgency of the persona is further elaborated with the usage of "You be my detonator!", explosions being fast, rapid and powerful in nature.

The result of all this actions is explained in the 11th paragraph, when they talk about negative, ugly side of Battery City, referring to all the Juvenile halls, a place where young people who break the law go to, and all the "children with dirty palms".

The world's response, however, is less than satisfactory. The song claims that although people want to change the world, they are unwilling to "die". This is not to be taken in the literal sense, but simply means that although people want to do something to reverse their actions, they do not do so because they are unwilling to bear the sacrifice and end up continuing to ruin the world.

Poorly done analysis? Yeah. But still, got the ideas across. Sorry for the long wait, haha XD but i'll see you, er, next time?

Incoherent Rambling 'Bout The Weekend

It's been a longtime since I posted, so I hope my audience (if i have an audience) is still here. I slept a lot today- approx. 10 hours previous night and then another 4 hour siesta today. That's 14 hours of sleep. My sleeping pattern is messed up and I can't think straight so I will now just attempt to describe to you my weekend in a chronological order (but even that won't make it coherent XD)

The weekend was a hell lot of fun. On Saturday, we went to Taka and got this really super cool Union Jack White Long Sleeve shirt thingy from Pull & Bear, then spent the next 2 hours at G2000 and ended up buying $311 worth of clothing - after a 50% discount D: I bought this super cool black jacket with a really shiny silver zipper and a matching purple shirt. Can't wait to wear it on MOVIE DAY (@san, @jc, @kii) this Wednesday. Also, during the G2000 raid I bought this super cool vest/checkered shirt thingy. You know how some people wear a checkered shirt then wear a vest over it so you can only see the sleeves and the neck? Yeah, it's like that except it's merged together so it's basically a grey fleece vest with sleeves sewed on XD and also bought a black sweater. Then, we went to Kinokuniya to search for books and I in particular, had to buy 2 books for 2 very special people for 2 very special occasions. Hope that you guys like the books when you read 'em XD

AND THEN FINALLY WE COME TO THE BEST PART OF THE DAY (or the 2nd best part of the day). WE WENT TO AJISEN RAMEN AND I FINALLY MANAGED TO EAT A LONG-AWAITED BOWL OF UNAJYU (Unagi + Rice). OMG. I MISS UNAJYU. I MISS THE JAPANESE FOOD STORE IN CATHOLIC HIGH PRIMARY ARGH XD Back in cat high, there was this stall which sold jap food. everyone loved it, always ran out of food just before 2nd recess finished and god I miss the times when they served Unagi, and Chicken Egg Soboro and FRIGGING JAPANESE CURRY. GAH. I MISS IT. OMG AND MISO SOUP. ARGH. EVERYDAY I USED TO GO TO THE JAP STORE, ORDER A BIG BOWL OF RICE AND MISO SOUP THEN PROCEED TO COMMENTATE ON SOCCER GAMES. GAH. I MISS THOSE DAYS.

*calms down* Gosh, Saturday was so frigging fun. And my total price tag for Saturday, I think, runs up to just shy of $300. And i finally managed to use part of my savings to buy something (the books *ahemahem*)

Sunday? Sunday was rather boring. Mugging for science. No starcrafting >.<. I love starcraft 2 <3 Not addicted, but it's fun cuz i usually play with my father and we get to bond together as a family XD the only sad part is that my mum is left out of the conversation :( and always says/asks in her filipina accent "What are you two talking about? How come I don't know?" Hmm. Well. I'll find a way to get her to understand.
Took down some old albums and looked at some baby photos of myself. Wow. I was so frigging cute XD *sighs* ah, the old days. I still miss our bunch. Rhia, Gladys, Kevin, Mary, Matthew, Steven, Gerard, Nikki, Alyana and Me. *sighs* Rhia, Gladys and Kevin are still here. Kev now has a bro, Justin, but the dif is that he didn't star in those photos when we were all still 1 years old. Mary and Matt moved to Canada, along with Steven. And Alyana (and her bro Ian) just moved to Canada also a month ago. Gerard and Nikki grew up and it's never been the same.

I miss the old days when we still used to play ice and water and still used to play catching and didn;t give a damn about the world, when youthful innocence still played upon our faces. I wonder what happened. Growing up. *yet another sigh* Well, I might upload some of these photos soon XD if i find the effort to do it. the old bunch, we should get together again. all 10 of us. that would be fun. I miss our group. And I have a lot of new friends and perhaps even friends that i treasure more, but that doesn't mean that I don't want my old friends back. I truly do.

~~
Well, if you managed to survive that emotional roller-coaster, kudos to you, I applaud unsarcastically. I can't wait for the holidays.

More Or Less?

Alistair: [reading newspapers] Hmph.
Gallagher: [curiously] What?
Alistair: Anti-abortionists rantin' 'bout how abortion ain't moral.
Gallagher: Well, it's immoral, ain't it?
Alistair: I don't see how abandoning 'em helps 'em either.
Gallagher: I'm sorry?
Alistair: You ever realized how anti-abortionists go on an' on an' on 'bout how we shouldn't kill no foetuses but don't go on to talk 'bout how they should be brought up? Hmm? They abandon the child the moment it's born. They don't care. They've done their job an' saved the foetus, who cares 'bout it now?

~~~~
Isn't it funny how anti-abortionists go on and on about how killing foetuses is immoral? Well, I agree that it is immoral but I also find it funny that once the child is born, they don't care about it. They don't care about the failing education system, hunger, poverty, family issues, nothing. Kinda funny how they aim to save lives then leave them to die afterwards. Personally, I think that people should first focus on the infrastructure and give support to these newborns as they grow up so that they don't end up sweeping the street or begging others for alms BEFORE they even think about saving babies. They'd be happier, no?
But now comes the question, more or less? Should we 'sacrifice' some babies to ensure that the rest are happier or should we we keep them all alive but in which many are impoverished, hungry and lead lives not worth living? Just something to think about.
The Game plan
All right, chumps. Let's do this. LEEERRROOOOYYYY!!! UHHJJJEENNNNKKIIINNNS!!!
This is how I will get a girl XD
Contextualization of wall post on JC's wall (< omg i made a reference to JC for the first time D:!!! ) ...
Basically, after I was told that girls fall for JC instantly (pfft, unfortunately), I realized that.... he was in breach of antitrust law (demonstration of which was when sistic was sued $1000 000 for being too pro and not giving other minor ticketing agents a chance to rise in the market. basically, they were dominating and it was unfair. so they had to nerf sistic.
Which is why I have to nerf JC.
GAHAHAHA IM SO HIGH RIGHT NOW XD punchdrunk on love (or lack thereof) XD XD XD
Joshie, i shall heed your advice and enjoy my singleness (pfft, singularity is not equal to singleness).
sin·gu·lar·i·ty (s ng gy -l r -t ). n. pl. sin·gu·lar·i·ties. 1. The quality or condition of being singular. 2. A trait marking one as distinct from others;
Guys. I'll see you tomorrow.
